Texas Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry – Volunteer and Community Involvement
Dr. Lewis enjoys the challenge of fundraising for a good cause, and he is a contributor to many charitable projects. He serves on the boards of several schools and non-profit charities. Below are just a few of the organizations with which Dr. Lewis and the staff at the Texas Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry are involved.
- Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum – Dr. Lewis served as part of the Business Advisory Board for the Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum (CWJF) for several years. The CWJF is an organization of women with the mission of making a difference in the lives of children, families, and the elderly in the Houston area though volunteer services, leadership, and philanthropy.
- Be an Angel Fund – Every December, which is typically a busy month for teeth whitening, Dr. Lewis donates his proceeds for every whitening procedure to the Be an Angel Fund. This fund provides playgrounds, school and personal equipment, and respite care for underprivileged children in need. He discounts the teeth whitening procedure to $300, from the typical $400, to encourage people to come in for bleaching and donate to the fund.
- Give Back a Smile – The Give Back a Smile program provides dental care at no cost to survivors of domestic violence. Dr. Lewis and his staff at the Texas Center for Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry have treated several victims of domestic abuse since the program's inception in 1999. Dr. Lewis also sings in an all-dentist band named Matrix Band (a reference to a dental instrument). Originally formed to raise money for Give Back a Smile, the band has raised more than $1 million for the program.
- Houston Makeover – Dr. Lewis donated his services to the Houston Makeover show, which aired on CBS for two seasons and provided life-changing total makeovers to women in need. Dr. Lewis performed a range of cosmetic dentistry and dental rehabilitation services for these women who otherwise would not have been able to have their teeth fixed, including one woman who required more than $30,000 of dental work.
