DR. LEWIS: Well, when people go to the dentist, a lot of times they have anxiety. And anxiety can be caused by different things. They may be concerned about sterilization of the office and I can just assure everyone that our office follows strict sterilization procedures. They can feel at ease that everything's been sterilized or we use disposable products to where they don't have to worry about that.

As far as other anxiety people have about the fear of it being uncomfortable or being anxious, we offer different levels of sedation for patients. We can use the nitrous oxide, which will give a low level that kind of takes the edge off of things. We can also offer other medications that put people into a deeper level of relaxation. And then the third level and the highest level of sedation we do is where we give an IV sedation. And that a person can be put into a deeper level of relaxation. That's done by an anesthesiologist who is here and monitoring them all the time so it's very safe. It's a great way to get the dental work done and do it in a comfortable way to where you don't have any problems with sitting through it and getting it done.
