DR. LEWIS: Well, a lot of patients I see need more than just the front ten teeth done with porcelain veneers. A lot of them need their whole mouth redone, either due to old dental work or old bridges or old crowns that are breaking down. And one of the great advances that has happened in the last few years is the ability to make all porcelain bridges and crowns. In the past, we used to have to use a substructure of metal and that would tend to give a fake look to the teeth. But now we can make them totally out of all ceramic material so they look very lifelike. You don't have any gold or discolored metal underneath to kind of make them look opaque or flat-looking. And they can be very translucent, very beautiful. And they're extremely strong. And so now we have the ability to do metal-free dentistry throughout the whole mouth and it's really fantastic.
